Getting around Japan was never the hard part for me.. Ordering food was! 😅 I moved here 4 years ago and for way too long I just pointed at the menu and hoped for the best 🙈 These 9 phrases are the ones I actually use now, and they cover almost every situation you'll run into here! If you only learn one, make it onegaishimasu 🙏 Attach it to almost any request and you instantly sound more polite! One thing a lot of people get wrong: arigatou on its own comes off a bit rude with someone you don't know. Use the long version, arigatou gozaimasu 😊 And save number 5 for when the menu is only in Japanese, osusume wa nan desu ka, what do you recommend!
